    Good Morning Baltimore!


    Set in 1960s Baltimore, meet Tracy Turnbald, a lovable teenager whose only desire is to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show”. When her dream comes true, she becomes an overnight sensation and uses her celebrity to dance all the right moves, get the guy of her dreams, and lead social change by integrating a TV network.


    Through a lovable cast of characters, experience a heartwarming underdog story reminding us all to follow your dreams!


    You can’t stop the beat so come and dance the time away with Hairspray.


     The show dates for Hairspray are May 20-24,  2020


    Character Breakdown


    Tracy Turnblad:  Presents as female stage age 16-18.  Big hair, big dream and big personality. Strong vocals and dance skills required.


    Corny Collins: Presents male stage age 25-30. Charming, handsome and charismatic. Strong vocal required.


    Edna Turnblad:  Presents as female but to be played by a male. Stage age 40-50.  Caring mother and wife. She is self-conscious about her size but ready to re-enter the world in a big way.

    Penny Pingleton: Presents as female stage age 16-18.  She is Tracy’s best friend. Often comes across as ditzy and awkward.


    Velma Von Tussle:  Presents as female but open to non traditional casting.  Stage age 40-50.  Former beauty queen who is racist and only cares to keep her daughter Amber in the spot light. Strong vocals required.


    Amber Von Tussle: Presents as female stage age 16-18. She is the spoiled daughter of Velma Von Tussle and girlfriend to Link Larkin. Nasty and snide. 


    Purdy Pingleton:  Presents as female but open to non traditional casting.  Stage age 40-50. Overprotective mother of Penny


    Seaweed J. Stubbs:  Presents as male.  Stage age 16-18.  African American older brother to Inez and love interest of Penny.  Strong vocals and dance required


    Little Inez: Presents as female. Stage age 10-14. African American.  High energy.  Strong dance required


    Link Larkin: Presents as male. Stage age 16-18. Tracy’s love interest. The typical teen heart throb. Strong dance and vocals required.


    Wilbur Turnblad: Presents as male. Stage age 45-60. He is witty and sweet. Loves and supports his wife and daughter.


    MotorMouth Maybelle: Presents as female but open to nontraditional casting.  Stage age 35-50. African American.  She is big, blonde and beautiful. Seaweed and Little Inez's mother


    Council Members: Both males and females and range in age from 12-18. Strong dance background required. These are the “Nicest Kids in Town”.


    The Dynamites: Strong vocals and dance required. Present as female and ideally from African American, diverse or ethnic background.


    Ensemble:  We are looking to fill out a diverse ensemble of both male and females of varying ages, shapes and sizes.


    Mini’s: There is a need to cast three mini characters.  All present female and ideally should be stage age 6-8 and under 4’5”. They will only be required for 1-2 number and will have a much lighter rehearsal schedule.
